Exciting Carpark Updates at The Beacon
A new payment system for car parking at The Beacon shopping centre comes into force on Thursday (November 13).
No tickets will be issued. Instead, the entrance barriers will record your registration plate. At the end of your visit, you simply type in your registration number at the ticket machines and pay – via bank card – the requested amount.
The car parking charge, which has stayed the same for two years, will increase from £1.40 an hour to £1.80; and from £2.80 for two hours to £3.30.
However, motorists can opt for a cheaper tariff and avoid payment machines by opening a free Member Account. Just scan the QR code on the tariff boards for discounted parking and automatic exit with no need to visit the payment machines.
Payment will be automatically deducted from your bank card and a receipt will be emailed to you.
The QR codes will be displayed on the tariff boards in the lift lobbies around the car park and above the payment machines in the shopping centre. The Beacon will also be providing a weblink to sign up online, if preferred.
Members will also benefit from offers and promotions at selected retailers in the shopping centre. More information on these offers will be available once the new car parking system is up and running. And please rest assured that The Beacon will not be selling your data!
Mark Powell, General Manager at The Beacon, said that improvements to the payment system for the car park were essential.
“I realise that change can sometimes bring its own set of challenges, but our new parking system will prove to be far more efficient and easier for shoppers to use. If we experience initial teething problems, please do bear with us. They will be rectified as swiftly as possible.
“Nobody likes to see a price increase, but our existing parking system has come to the end of its useful life,” Mark said. “Our new ticketless operation will make the whole process much easier for motorists. And parking at The Beacon remains very good value when you compare our tariffs with other paid parking sites in town.”
