Cinema Screenings – April at The Beacon

April brings an exceptionally varied programme to Cineworld at The Beacon, headlined by one of the most anticipated family releases of the year alongside a packed mix of new drama, thriller, event cinema, theatre broadcasts, opera, and special screenings. With the Easter holidays falling across the first two weeks, family films take centre stage early in the month, while event cinema, classics, and acclaimed stage productions fill out the rest of April’s rich schedule.

New & Feature Films

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The biggest release of the month arrives on 1 April, with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad joining forces on an adventure to the far reaches of space. Facing off against Bowser Jr., who is trying to free his imprisoned father, the gang must travel across the galaxy to save the day. Returning stars Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day and Jack Black are joined by Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina. Screenings run in standard 2D and 3D formats throughout the month, with multiple daily showings across the Easter period.

The Drama

Opening on 3 April, this darkly comic new release from director Kristoffer Borgli stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as a happily engaged couple whose wedding week is thrown into disarray by an unexpected turn of events. A sharp, character-driven film with repeated screenings throughout April.

Fuze

Also opening on 3 April, this tense British thriller directed by David Mackenzie stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. When an unexploded World War II bomb is discovered on a busy London construction site, the military and police begin a mass evacuation against a ticking clock. A gripping, high-stakes race against time.

You, Me & Tuscany

A warmly received drama arriving in the second half of April, offering a change of tone and setting as the month progresses.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy

A new take on the classic horror franchise arrives on 17 April, bringing fresh energy and chills to one of cinema’s most enduring monster stories.

California Schemin’

James McAvoy makes his directorial debut with this stranger-than-fiction real-life tale of two Dundonian lads who reinvented themselves as American rappers to chase their hip-hop dreams. A one-off special screening on 6 April.

Horror, Thriller & Dark Cinema

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

The sequel to the cult horror-comedy arrives with a vengeance. After surviving one deadly game, Grace and her sister Faith must now outrun four rival families competing for a powerful throne – winner takes all. Starring Samara Weaving, Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood, this late-evening title runs across the Easter weekend and into early April.

They Will Kill You

A woman takes a job as a housekeeper in a New York City high-rise, only to discover the building has a history of unexplained disappearances. A tense horror-thriller starring Zazie Beetz, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton and Patricia Arquette, with screenings carrying over from late March into the first days of April.

Dhurandhar 2

The Indian action-thriller sequel returns to the schedule in April, continuing its run for audiences looking for high-octane drama on the big screen.

Family Films & Animation

The Magic Faraway Tree

Enid Blyton’s enchanted world continues to delight Easter audiences, with heavy scheduling across the first two weeks of April. Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning and Rebecca Ferguson star in this fantasy family adventure about children who discover a magical wood near their new country home. A standout Easter holiday title with multiple daily showings.

Hoppers

The imaginative sci-fi family animation carrying over from March continues to run into the Easter holidays. When scientists discover how to transform human consciousness into robotic animals, Mabel uses the technology to uncover extraordinary mysteries of the natural world. Featuring the voices of Jon Hamm, Dave Franco and Meryl Streep.

GOAT

Sony Pictures Animation’s acclaimed sports comedy continues its run into April, following Will – a small goat with big dreams – who gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to join the pros in roarball, a high-intensity, full-contact sport dominated by the fiercest animals in the world. From the studio behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, with voices from Caleb McLaughlin, Gabrielle Union, Nicola Coughlan and David Harbour.

Zootropolis 2

Disney’s animated sequel wraps up its run in the early days of April, with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde teaming up once more to crack their most complex case yet.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

SpongeBob’s colourful high-seas adventure continues into early April for any family audiences yet to catch it.

Bluey at the Cinema: Playdates with Friends Collection

The special event presentation featuring never-before-seen footage and recordings of Elvis Presley continues its run into early April for those who missed it in March.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

The beloved romantic comedy returns to the big screen for special evening screenings across 17 and 21 April, giving audiences a chance to revisit Bridget’s diary on the big screen once more.

Straight Outta Compton

Akira

NT Live: All My Sons

A major National Theatre Live event arrives on 16 April, running through into July. Bryan Cranston and Marianne Jean-Baptiste star in this five-star, triumphantly acclaimed new production of Arthur Miller’s classic play, directed by Ivo Van Hove. Also featuring Paapa Essiedu, Tom Glynn-Carney and Hayley Squires, this is one of the theatrical events of the year – filmed live from the West End and broadcast to cinemas across the country. A disturbingly prescient story of family, ambition and the true cost of wartime profit.

Royal Ballet & Opera: The Magic Flute

Mozart’s beloved opera arrives on the big screen on 21 April as part of the Royal Ballet and Opera’s 2025/26 season broadcast. A dazzling, magical production brought live from the Royal Opera House to cinema audiences.

Royal Ballet & Opera: Siegfried

Wagner’s third chapter of the Ring cycle, with conductor Antonio Pappano and director Barrie Kosky, continues its limited screenings into the very start of April.
