What’s on Screening: August

August keeps the summer holidays rolling at Cineworld at The Beacon, with the season’s biggest blockbusters carrying through the first weeks and a fresh run of family adventures, horror and event cinema to close out the holidays. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day continue their runs from July, Paw Patrol races back to the big screen mid-month, the Insidious franchise returns for late-summer scares, and a 25th-anniversary screening of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone brings a touch of magic to the bank holiday. £2 family screenings and Summer Throwbacks run throughout.

The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan’s epic retelling of Homer’s classic, presented on the biggest screens including IMAX, carries its momentum from a mid-July opening straight into August. One of the defining cinema events of the summer, it holds heavy daily scheduling through the first half of the month.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Arriving on the final weekend of July, the web-slinger’s new big-screen chapter heads into August as one of the summer’s headline blockbusters. Expect multiple daily screenings throughout the first weeks of the month.

Toy Story 5

Pixar’s latest stays a family favourite through the school holidays, with Jessie, Buzz and the gang back together. Scheduled across daytime slots for younger audiences throughout August.

Minions & Monsters

Illumination’s mischievous yellow henchmen continue their summer-holiday adventure, one of the season’s big animated draws and showing daily through the holidays.

New Releases

Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie — from 14 August

The Paw Patrol pups return for a prehistoric big-screen adventure, a perfect school-holiday treat for younger fans. Expect plenty of daytime screenings from its mid-month arrival.

Insidious: Out of the Further — from 21 August

The Insidious franchise returns with a new chapter of supernatural horror, taking audiences back into The Further. A strong late-summer draw for genre fans, scheduled across evening slots.

The Dog Stars — from 28 August

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: 25th Anniversary — from 28 August

Return to Hogwarts as the film that started it all comes back to the big screen for its 25th anniversary. A magical treat for the whole family over the bank holiday weekend.

Summer Throwbacks

Cineworld’s Summer Throwbacks strand brings back a run of modern favourites, including Mean Girls (2004) from 21 August and 21 Jump Street (2012) from 28 August. A chance to catch them on the big screen once more.
